The GTA VI countdown just became real: November 19, 2026
The longest wait in gaming finally fits on a calendar. As of this guide's publication on July 12, 2026, exactly 130 days remain until Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos arrive in Vice City. Rockstar's official GTA VI page now lists November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
There is fresh launch intelligence too. Take-Two's June 24 announcement confirms a $79.99 Standard Edition, pre-orders opened June 25, and digital pre-loading begins November 12 — one week before release. Rockstar currently lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for launch; it has not posted a PC release date.
Six official regions, two protagonists, one map still under wraps
Vice City is only the neon centre of a much broader state. Rockstar's official Only in Leonida tour has now named six regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. That mix points from dense city blocks to islands, swamps, industrial towns, faded coast, and mountain wilderness. The complete navigable map, however, has not been officially published — every finished-looking map circulating elsewhere is still a fan reconstruction, speculation, or leaked material.
The story is equally grounded in movement. Jason, an Army veteran who fell into work for drug runners in the Keys, and Lucia, newly out of Leonida Penitentiary and determined to change her odds, are pulled into a state-wide criminal conspiracy after an easy score goes wrong. Rockstar's expanded cast already stretches from Vice City music operators to a veteran bank robber and an old-school Keys smuggler, which makes Leonida feel less like one city and more like a connected road story.
The most useful visual scoop is hiding in plain sight: the official Trailer 2 upload says every frame was captured in-game on a PlayStation 5, split between gameplay and cutscenes. It is not a pre-rendered promise of some distant target. The beaches, motels, highways, waterways, stores, interiors, aircraft, and crowds are the world Rockstar chose to show running on console hardware.
Why the minimap may become the quiet star of Leonida
Open-world spectacle gets the trailers, but the minimap does the invisible work. It compresses a living city into a half-second decision: next turn, threat behind, objective ahead, escape route left. In a world that spans city grids, Keys causeways, wetlands, coast roads, and mountain tracks, minimap literacy is the skill that lets you enjoy the scene instead of pausing every block.
- Heading instinct: read a rotating map without mentally fighting north every time you turn.
- Peripheral scanning: catch the next bend or target with one glance, then return your eyes to the world.
- Target priority: separate the objective that matters now from every other icon competing for attention.
- Route memory: look ahead, remember two or three turns, and stop tracing the line pixel by pixel.
- Scale awareness: know whether a marker is around the corner, across the district, or far beyond the current map.
The best minimap is not the one you stare at. It is the one your brain learns to read before you notice you looked.
You cannot enter Leonida early. You can train that reflex early — on the streets you already know, with a real compass, real movement, and a radar that lives in your pocket.
Meet the free GTA 6-style minimap already running on your phone

This is SIMT's Minimap, running live on an Android phone. It is a circular, heading-up map surrounded by a neon compass HUD. Your position stays at the centre while the streets and cardinal directions rotate with your body, so forward is always up. Nearby saved targets appear at their real positions; farther targets move to the rim as bearing blips. Tap one for details, or use the plus and minus controls to change scale.
- Heading-up radar: the map turns around you, keeping your current direction at the top.
- Near and far awareness: nearby targets sit on the street map; distant ones become directional rim blips.
- Context-aware player marker: SIMT can switch between a heading arrow, car, bicycle, or boat based on movement and environment.
- Live pace: when you move, the display can show speed in km/h or mph.
- Touch targets: tap a blip to open its details; grouped rim targets open as a cluster.
- Free access: the current Android build exposes Minimap without a premium gate.
Build your own pre-launch Vice City in ten minutes
You do not need palm trees, a supercar, or a wanted level. A familiar neighbourhood is better training because you already know where the route should go. Give ordinary places game language and let the minimap make them feel new.
- Install SIMT free from Google Play and allow location while using the app.
- Open the Minimap: swipe across the compass views. If it is hidden, open the Profile controls, enable Minimap, and long-press it to make it your default. The Gamer and Explorer roles start there naturally.
- Create a safehouse: save home, your hotel, or another private base as a target. Use a neutral label if anyone else could see your screen.
- Place three missions: a café becomes Mission Start, a landmark becomes Lookout, and a station or parked car becomes Garage.
- Add one ally: save a consenting friend's shared position or a public meeting point. Our live screenshot uses Lucia because a Vice City warm-up deserves commitment.
- Walk a safe loop: watch the roads rotate, identify the next turn from one glance, then keep the phone lowered until the next decision.
- Finish without voice prompts: let the target bearing and map do the work. If you miss a turn, recover calmly instead of immediately opening a conventional route.
The seven-day Minimap boot camp
Treat this like the week before a major game launch: short sessions, one mechanic at a time, no grinding required.
- Day 1 — Orientation: stand still, turn through a full circle, and watch north, east, south, and west orbit your marker.
- Day 2 — One-glance turns: choose a target five minutes away and allow yourself one map glance per junction.
- Day 3 — Read the rim: add a distant landmark and learn to distinguish its bearing blip from nearby street-level targets.
- Day 4 — Route memory: study the next three turns, lower the phone, and check only after the third.
- Day 5 — Scale shift: repeat a route while changing zoom; notice how the same distance feels at neighbourhood and district scale.
- Day 6 — Recovery: deliberately take one safe wrong turn, then reorient from heading and target direction without panic.
- Day 7 — The Vice City run: string safehouse, mission, garage, and ally into one loop. Complete it with no voice guidance and no continuous screen staring.
The goal is not to gamify every walk forever. It is to build a better spatial model: glance, predict, move, confirm. That skill transfers to hiking, travel, festivals, unfamiliar stations, and every open-world map that asks you to navigate at speed.
What this real-world radar can — and cannot — do
SIMT Minimap is a situational-awareness view, not turn-by-turn navigation and not a replica of an unreleased game HUD. It centres on your live position, heading, speed, and saved targets; it does not invent missions, traffic AI, police chases, or a fictional city. That restraint is the point: the arcade language makes real spatial information faster to read.
The heading and target calculations stay in SIMT's on-device compass pipeline. The current street basemap is supplied through Google Maps, however, so it needs available map tiles; do not treat Minimap itself as an offline map. SIMT's broader toolkit includes offline-first navigation features, but this particular view is at its best with a data connection.
Minimap is available in the current free Android build. It is designed for quick awareness, not continuous attention: use it while walking only when safe, or let a passenger handle the phone in a vehicle. Saved targets are personal spatial data, so name and share them with the same care you would give a home address.

Questions answered in this guide
When is the GTA VI release date?
Rockstar Games currently lists November 19, 2026 for Grand Theft Auto VI on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Digital pre-loading for eligible pre-orders begins November 12. Rockstar has not listed a PC release date.
Has Rockstar revealed the complete GTA VI map?
No. Rockstar has officially named and shown material from Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park, but it has not published a complete navigable map. Finished-looking maps online may be fan reconstructions, speculation, or leaked material.
Is SIMT an official GTA VI companion app?
No. SIMT is an independent Android spatial toolkit and has no affiliation with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive. GTA 6-style describes the heading-up, game-like radar experience; it does not mean SIMT connects to GTA VI or copies its unreleased interface.
Is the SIMT Minimap really free?
Yes. Minimap is available without a premium gate in the current SIMT Android build, and the app can be downloaded free from Google Play.
Does SIMT Minimap work offline?
Not as a complete offline map. Its compass heading and target logic run through SIMT's on-device pipeline, but the current street basemap uses Google Maps and needs available map tiles. Other SIMT features are designed for offline and weak-signal use.
How do I open Minimap in SIMT?
Swipe horizontally across the compass views until Minimap appears. If it is disabled, open the Profile controls from the compass screen, enable Minimap, and long-press it to make it your default. The Gamer and Explorer profiles select Minimap by default.
Can I use Minimap while driving?
Do not hold or operate the phone while driving. If Minimap is visible in a vehicle, secure the phone in a legal mount before moving and avoid interacting with it, or let a passenger handle it. Always follow local traffic laws and keep attention on the road.
